About our Founder

Michael W. Magnanti founded the company Senior Insurance Counselor, LLC (d/b/a Patriots Insurance). Mike is 55, and lives in his adopted hometown of Oxford, NC with his wife Dr. Leslie Y. Magnanti and their children. Mike has lived in Granville County since 2010, and has been in the insurance business since 2013.

Mike grew up in East Setauket, Long Island, New York — a rural/suburban town about 60 miles outside of Manhattan. Growing up he played with the other neighborhood kids in the potato and corn fields which were throughout the area. He worked in local restaurants from the time he was 14. At 18, Mike volunteered for his local fire department where he remained an active member until he moved in 1997. At 27, Mike moved to Florida where he continued his restaurant career.

Mike moved to North Carolina in 2005, where he continued working in the restaurant industry, eventually being promoted to Managing Partner of the Carrabba’s Italian Grill in Durham, NC. In 2013, he left the restaurant industry for the insurance business. Mike worked for N.C. Farm Bureau from 2014 to 2019, and in January of 2020 started working for an independent agency.
